On Thursday evening a dramatic finish of the World Cup E Group took place.
In a highly important match, Japan defeated the Spaniards with a score of 2:1 and finished on top of the group.
The Spaniards started the match excellently and took the lead in the 11th minute. After a pass from Cesar Azpilicueta, Alvaro Morata headed the ball into the net.
However, the Japanese did not give up and turned the tide in the second half of the match. Ritsu Doan scored in the 48th minute, and just three minutes later Ao Tanaka put his team ahead.
As a result, Japan finishes at the top of the standings with 6 points, Spain and Germany both have 4 points, but Spain's better goal difference puts Luis Enrique's side in second place and into the quarterfinals. Costa Rica's footballers remain in last place with 3 points.
