On Sunday, the 2016 European Championship in France came to an end, with Portugal triumphing. Throughout the whole month, the battles of the national teams from the Old Continent, which heated up football fans with amazing goals, surprised many.
UEFA announced a vote on their website to choose the most beautiful goal of the tournament. Surprisingly, the most beautiful goal of the tournament was awarded to the strike of Zoltan Gera, the defender of the Hungarian national team, against the Portuguese national team.
It was almost certain that the goal of the tournament would be awarded to Xherdan Shaqiri's goal with the "scissors" against the Polish goal, but they only received "just" 29 thousand votes, while Z. Gera's strike gathered 122 thousand votes at that time.
In the third place in the voting remained the forward of the Welsh national team, Hal Robson-Kanu, who dribbled past the entire defense of the Belgian national team (19 thousand votes). The fourth place went to Dimitri Payet for his goal against Romania (10 thousand votes), and the fifth place to Radja Nainggolan, who scored a powerful goal against Wales (8.9 thousand votes).
