In the 34th round of the "TOPsport A League", the already medal-secured "Kauno Žalgiris" football team faced "Džiugas", which is fighting for survival in the league. In a tough match, the guests from Telšiai were stronger for the first time this season and celebrated a narrow victory with a score of 1:0 (0:0).

After more than 5 minutes of play, the hosts were threatened by the Telšiai team – a shot by Ibrahim Cisse hit one of the Žalgiris players and flew toward the goal guarded by Deividas Mikelionis, but the goalkeeper saved the team.

Later, Deiton Vinckus tried his luck, but missed the goal, and "Kauno Žalgiris" goalkeeper D. Mikelionis handled the strong shot from "Džiugas" attacking leader Nino Noordanus.

In the first half of the match, the Kaunas team made several sharp passes into the penalty area, but usually, there was no response. The most dangerous opportunity came in the middle of the half when Marius Paukštė had to react after Gratas Sirgėdas' dangerous play.

In the second half, Deiton Vinckus received a great pass from Sergijus Kulynyčius and found himself one-on-one with D. Mikelionis, but he didn't even manage to take a shot at goal.

In the 65th minute of the match, after Artūras Dolžnikov's pass, Quentinas Bena attempted a header into the goal defended by M. Paukštė, but the Telšiai goalkeeper made a fantastic leap to save it.

In the 72nd minute, the decisive word was spoken by "Džiugas" striker N. Noordanus – the player from the Netherlands confused the Žalgiris defender and sent the ball into the far upper corner of the goal, allowing his team to secure very important 3 points in the fight for survival.

In the league table, the Žalgiris team is in third place with 54 points, while the "Džiugas" representatives, having secured 3 much-needed points, caught up with "TransInvest", currently in eighth place.
