Marseille police once again calmed the passions of English football fans with tear gas. On Saturday, the English will watch their team's first match. At 22:00, "Three Lions" will compete against the Russian team in the "Euro 2016" tournament, so English fans started preparing in bars the night before.
Riot police calmed down football fans throwing bottles at them with tear gas.
Disturbances took place in the Old Port area, where the English had problems on Thursday as well.
BBC sport journalist George Riley said the incident occurred when English fans started pushing either to the police or to local residents.
The last clash in Marseille took place near a bar and in the same place where police took action on Thursday.
One English fan and one local were detained.
"Most English fans are simply drunk and singing, but more and more beer bottles are being thrown at the police. The police took the opportunity to push the fans away," BBC journalist Alex Campbell wrote on social media.
BBC previously reported that French police instructed bars not to sell beer to the English in the Old Port area because they sing too loudly. This could have provoked the conflict.
