Attack of unprecedented cruelty was captured at the stadium named after football legend Pele.
In the final of "Campeonato Alagoano", CRB team won 1:0 against CSA, but the last tournament match was marked not by triumph on the field, but by the violence of fans.
Television cameras captured a group of fans wearing blue uniforms attacking and brutally beating a fan of the opposing club to unconsciousness.
"He was nearly dead. Multiple bone fractures and open wounds were diagnosed," said the CRB doctor, predicting disability for the fan.
The attack was condemned by players from both clubs: "It is simply vile and unsportsmanlike. This is not Vietnam. We play to bring joy to people."
