One of the biggest international national team soccer tournaments, "Copa America," may change its format in 2024.

"Fox Sports" reports that for the 2024 "Copa America," several North American teams could join, including Mexico, Canada, and the United States.

Furthermore, the tournament itself could be hosted by the USA, as preparation for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in those three mentioned countries.

Initially, it was planned that Ecuador could host the "Copa America," but the country's federation ultimately declined that possibility. So far, there is no other candidate.

In 2016, the "Copa America" was a centennial anniversary tournament that also took place in the United States. In that tournament, Chile triumphed after a penalty shootout.

Last year, the tournament was held in Brazil, where the Argentine national team emerged victorious, defeating the local favorites 1-0 in the final.

In 2021, the "Copa America" tournament had only 10 teams, divided into 2 groups of 5. Australia and Qatar were supposed to participate, but ultimately it did not materialize. In 2024, the championship could feature 16 teams and 4 groups of 4 teams.
