Unusual suspects: Spain, Germany and France will have different cup finals this year © JumpStory

"Ordinary Suspects" is such a famous film from the 90s, but the title of this film doesn't really fit the events that have taken place in the French, Spanish, and German cups this year. In the French cup final this year, "Nantes" and "Nice" teams will meet. The last time one of these teams triumphed was in 2000 - back then, "Nantes" defeated the fourth division club "Calais RUFC" in the final. This was the second consecutive French cup title for the "Canaries" and the third in total in the club's history. In the semi-finals, "Nantes" triumphed over the more experienced "AS Monaco" team after a penalty shootout. After the victory, fans couldn't contain their joy and flooded the stadium celebrating with their team's players (seen in the photo). The "Nice" club has also raised the cup three times since 1918 - the last time was in 1997. In the German cup ("DFB Pokal"), one of the following teams will triumph: "RB Leipzig," "Hamburger SV," Berlin's "Union," and "Freiburg." This will be a golden opportunity for the Leipzig team established in 2009 to raise trophies this year. However, out of these four clubs, only one has won the DFB Pokal. The "Hamburger SV" club raised the German cup in 1963, 1976, and 1987, and still remains a legendary German club despite playing in lower divisions for the past few seasons. Interestingly, in only the second season of the German cup when it was still called Tschammerpokal, another Leipzig team - "VfB Leipzig" triumphed. The second team from Leipzig currently plays in the fourth division of the German league. In the Spanish cup final, the "Valencia" and "Real Betis" teams will meet. "Valencia," out of all the teams mentioned in this article, has the most local cup victories - the club that plays at the Mestalla Stadium has won the "Copa del Rey" 6 times, most recently in 2019 when they defeated "Barcelona." The "Real Betis" team experiencing its golden age last won the cup in 2005. In that year's final, the Seville team defeated the "Osasuna" players 2-1. The "Valencia" club has participated in the King's Cup final 14 times, while "Real Betis" has only appeared twice in its club's history. It is worth mentioning that this cup is the oldest of all mentioned today, and has practically always taken place without interruption. The "Copa del Rey" took place for the first time in 1903. Bilbao's "Athletic" players won the first title and repeated it in the following years. The years 1937 and 1938 were the only years when football celebrations did not take place in Spain. The reason for this was the Spanish Civil War, which took place from 1936 to 1939.
