In the upcoming season, football fans will see a novelty - a changed format of the UEFA Champions League.

As reported by ESPN, among the 36 most powerful clubs of the Old Continent, up to seven English teams can qualify.

In the new format tournament, after the guaranteed four places, will be the "Premier", "La Liga", "Bundesliga" and "Serie A" competitions.

However, two additional spots will be given to the teams with the highest coefficients from the European leagues this season.

The Champions League and Europa League winners will also have a chance to participate in the prestigious tournament, and if these teams have already secured places through national championships, then the tickets will be given to other teams.

It is estimated that if the cards fall favorably, up to 11 English clubs could compete in European tournaments next year.
