V. Čeburinas: we finished attacks more qualitatively

“Žalgiris” coach Vladimiras Čeburinas highlighted the better finishing of his players after a solid victory in Telšiai and spoke about the high level of competition.

The “Žalgiris” players scored three goals against “Džiugas” in the first half of the match, and after the break added one more – 4:0.

“Both teams made quite a few mistakes. Maybe the wind had an impact on that. From the first minutes, the opponent tried to press. We managed to score one, then another. It cannot be said that we completely dominated, completely controlled the ball. The opponent also had chances. But things turned out better, more quality for us. I am grateful to the players. They come out on the field to win. Bravo,” said the coach.

Asked about the team rotation ahead of the upcoming European matches, V. Čeburinas stated that it is often not easy to choose which players to let onto the field. “They all want to play. Sometimes there are moments when there are two candidates for one position. And the player who performs well in the starting lineup. Shows what he is capable of. But everyone needs to be given a chance. Players like Larsson, Fernandes. Mihajlovičius and Petkovičius could have also come on. We have options to let onto the field. The competition is quite tough. But it encourages improvement. Because of their performances on the field – they contributed to the victory… We expect more, I think we will receive it.”

On Sunday, “Žalgiris” will face the “Sūduva” team at home.
