"Panevėžys" football club will dive back into the whirlpool of "TOPsport A league" battles after a two-week break. The nearest opponent in the 30th round is the very unfavorable Gargždai "Banga," which will host the Panevėžys team at home this year.

In the 2024 season, the gargždiškiai have secured all three victories. In Panevėžys, they won both times 1:0, and in front of their own fans, they celebrated a 2:0 victory. After 29 matches, "Banga," sitting in 4th place, has gathered 37 points - 9 wins, 10 draws, and 10 losses.

The Panevėžys team has 25 points and ranks tenth but has three matches in hand. In the last match of the Lithuanian championship, "Banga" dramatically lost 1:2 away to Vilnius "Žalgiris," while "Panevėžys" drew one point with Marijampolė "Sūduva" - 0:0.

In the upcoming match, two Gargždai club players, Antonio Lara and Dovydas Norvilas, will miss the game due to suspensions. Before the distant away game, fk-panevezys.lt spoke with goalkeeper Vytautas Černiauskas.

"We used the national team break to recharge our batteries after an intense marathon of matches. All players needed rest. We gathered physically rested, with clearer heads and better moods.

"Banga" definitely leaves a very good impression this season, not allowing any opponent to play easily. To achieve a positive result, we need to be very aggressive without the ball from the first minutes on Sunday, win as many duels as possible, and play calmly when we control the ball," said the Panevėžys player.

The fourth meeting this year between "Banga" and "Panevėžys" will take place on September 15, Sunday. The match will start at 15:30 at Gargždai city stadium, and it will be broadcast on the LRT Plius channel.
