Valdo Dambrauskas' coached Split's "Hajduk" club interrupted a 9-year title drought. "Hajduk" players won the Croatian Cup, defeating "Rijeka" representatives in a final score of 3:1. "Rijeka" players took the lead in the first match. Josip Drmić scored in the 13th minute. Ferro equalized in the 24th minute, and after 12 minutes, "Hajduk" team turned the score in their favor with Dario Melnjakas. Just before the break, "Rijeka" defender Hrvoje Smolčić saw a red card. At the beginning of the second half, the "Hajduk" team took a significant step towards triumph in the Croatian Cup when D. Melnjakas scored again. This victory marked the end of the season for V. Dambrauskas' coached Split team. For the legendary Croatian club, this was one of the best seasons in a long time. A Lithuanian took over the team's helm at the beginning of the season.
