The strategist of the Spanish national team Vicente del Bosque asked not to stick the label of World Cup favorites "La Furia Roja" to the eleven.
The 63-year-old specialist does not want his students to be considered as the main contenders to win the world championships in Brazil, as this would burden them with unnecessary psychological pressure.
"All the unknowns will be explained on the football field. We believe we are moving in the right direction, but the championship will show if that is true. The triumph in the last championship had a great influence on our further work," he said.
"It's best not to pay attention to being considered favorites. From experience, I can say that such a label is not beneficial. In a tournament of this scale, such labels mean nothing," said the strategist of the world and European champions.
"Brazil plays at home and is a great team, but at the same time, the pressure to win the championship will be much greater than, for example, the Confederations Cup," he said.
The specialist agrees that the Spanish football based on short passes was the key to success in the past World and European championships, but he hopes for more aggressiveness from his students.
"Football can be played in different ways. We do not have a magical formula, but we have a game philosophy adapted to the abilities of our footballers," he said.
"However, this does not mean that there are no other teams that can achieve high results. Ball control does not mean anything yet. Therefore, we work to become a more aggressive, compact team that can surprise and cause trouble for opponents," said V. del Bosque.
For the students of V. del Bosque, the championship will start on Friday, when in the B group match, the 2010 World Cup final between Spain and the team of Louis van Gaal's Netherlands will be replayed.
