V. Del Bosque: "Some felt euphoria, others fell into depression"

First loud echo in the World Cup in Brazil. World and European champions Spanish footballers played in the first match of Group B against the Netherlands team, the finalists of the previous World Cup, and were simply crushed. The Dutch achieved a very sweet revenge - the runners-up of the world smashed the Spanish 5:1 (1:1).

After the match, Spanish national team coach Vicente del Bosque tried to calm himself and the Spanish fans, although the whole world is already burying "La Furia Roja".

The emotionless coach, however, with a stone face said: "This is just a sport. Yes, we lost and we must admit that we lost painfully. The opponents were better in the second half of the match. If Silva had scored in the first half when we were leading 1-0, the result would definitely not be what it was now. I have to admit my own mistakes and those of the team, but I want to say that we fought and aimed for victory."

But he admitted that strange things happened in the end: "Some, seeing the result, felt euphoria, while others fell into depression."

The Spanish coach said that it is necessary to forget the failure as soon as possible: "Now we need to forget that defeat and think about the match against Chile. We are not in a very good situation, but we need to dig ourselves out of it."

The newspaper "Marca" has already called the Spanish defeat a "World humiliation", other Spanish portals also did not keep silent: "We are ashamed", "Better humiliation, but not such disgrace".

Meanwhile, Spanish national team player Fernando Torres explained that even a 1-5 defeat does not change the plans of the Spanish national team - to defend the title of champions.

"The Dutch played spectacularly. They played a fairy-tale game overall. Of course, this is little consolation for us. But believe me, we will continue to play our game, and in the match against Chile, we will not worry and will not think about past failures. We are strong enough to pursue our goals," the Spanish footballer said after the match.

Meanwhile, Robin van Persie, who was named the best player of the match, said that the Netherlands could have scored as many goals as they wanted.

"We could have scored six, seven or eight goals. We played excellently. But we will start preparing for the match against Australia tomorrow. Now everyone is waiting for us only for celebrations. And I really have no doubt that it will be much harder to play against the Australians than against the Spanish - they will not give us as much freedom as today's opponents did," R. van Persie said.
