"Manchester City" captain Vincent Kompany and coach Manuel Pellegrini praised hat-trick hero Sergio Aguero after the victory against Munich's "Bayern".
The Argentinian put the hosts ahead in the 22nd minute, when Mehdi Benatia saw a red card and a penalty was given. Despite being a man down, the German champions managed to equalize before halftime.
As the match neared its end, it seemed that "Man City's" hopes of reaching the next stage were dashed, but in the 85th minute Aguero leveled the score, and in added time he scored the third goal. Kompany believes the whole team owes a lot to the striker.
When asked by ITV where the "citizens" would be without this striker, the Belgian replied: "I don't know, but to achieve something, you need a special player in special form. Otherwise you simply don't win anything."
"He is our special player. When he is in such great form, he allows us to achieve very difficult things."
"We gave our all, did what we had to do, and today we defeated a strong team.
Aguero also praised Pellegrini. The Chilean said that City's striker is top class and a very important player. According to the coach, despite the excellent performance of the Argentine, the whole team played very well.
After yesterday's victory, the English champions revived their chances of reaching the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. However, their fate is not entirely in their hands, as in the next stage they will need to not only beat "Roma", but also hope that "Bayern" doesn't lose to Moscow's "CSKA".
