Panevėžio "Ekrano" head coach Virginijus Liubšys mostly commented on his team's matches calmly this season. However, after today's victory against Klaipėda's "Atlantas", which secured the Lithuanian champions title for the people of Panevėžys, the coach did not hide his emotions.
"We easily crushed 'Atlantas.' We swept the Klaipėda team like 'Volga.' Just write it down like that," V. Liubšys said. According to him, defender Gediminas Paulauskas scored a beautiful first goal, and the team captain Mantas Savėnas played beautifully.
What makes the new Lithuanian champions better than other teams? "Team spirit. When this summer three of our main players - Aurimas Kučys, Donatas Petrauskas, Mindaugas Gardzijauskas - suffered injuries, many rejoiced. However, we did not give up and achieved the goal," said V. Liubšys.
The "Ekranas" strategist praised the team's goalkeepers, especially speaking warmly about defenders Gediminas Paulauskas and Arūnas Klimavičius. "The safeties Aurimas Kučys, Mantas Savėnas played excellently. I am convinced that Mantas is the best football player playing in Lithuania," V. Liubšys said.
When asked how the new champions plan to celebrate the significant victory, the coach replied: "Now we won't celebrate too much, as the season is not over yet. We will go to the sauna, and we will celebrate more seriously after the season ends."
