The Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) announces that Vitalis Stankevičius has been temporarily appointed as the coach of the national youth (U-21) team. In the UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying match taking place on October 12 in Kaunas, Lithuanians will face their Spanish counterparts. Former assistant coach V. Stankevičius will replace Virginijus Liubšys in the role of strategist for this match, as Liubšys recently stepped down from his position. V. Stankevičius will be assisted by two other coaches in preparing the youth team - Igoris Pankratjevas ("Atlantas") and goalkeeping coach Artūras Ramoška ("Kaunas"). Meanwhile, it has also been announced today that the Lithuanian youth (U-19) team will have friendly matches in the near future. Tomorrow (Thursday) at 19:00 at the Kaunas S.Darius and S.Girėnas Stadium, the team coached by M. Neoras will face Russia (free entry). The same teams will also play on Friday at 16:00 in Marijampolė, and in May of next year, Lithuanians will travel to Moscow for return matches.
