Just half a year from now, the Liverpool team may lose their famous defender Virgil van Dijk.

The experienced defender has not yet extended his expiring contract and is at risk of becoming a free agent.

As mentioned by the 33-year-old player's countryman Jaap Stam, van Dijk should consider a move to the USA.

"If he leaves Liverpool, I see the player spending several years playing in the MLS, where he can earn a lot of money."

"Of course, he is still an important player for the Liverpool team, and I see no reason why the 'Reds' would want to say goodbye to him."

"There is no doubt – the defender deserves a new contract, even if it’s just for one season. It would be very difficult to replace Virgil, so I see him as the best choice for the club,” Stam said.
