Virgil van Dijk insists that the Liverpool team is more mature than in last year's UEFA Champions League final, but still does not consider themselves as favorites.
Tonight in Madrid will be the final battle for the most important club trophy. For the second consecutive year, Liverpool, fighting for the title, will meet London's Tottenham.
Remembering last year's final, where Gareth Bale made a season's appearance, Loris Karius ended his career at Liverpool, V. van Dijk said: "I learned from those matches. I hope to use that experience this year. Losing in the final is very painful."
Bookmakers and most football experts consider Liverpool as strong favorites, but the defender has no doubt that anything can happen in such matches.
"People can talk whatever they want and say that we had a better season in the Premier League than Tottenham. That is true, of course, but now we are playing the final and anything can happen in it. We are talking only about one game.
Tottenham is a very good team with many strengths. They have a fantastic goalkeeper, two excellent center-backs, and a well-functioning defense line.
They have Victor Wanyama, whom I know well from Southampton, and Christian Eriksen, who has been playing at the highest level for years.
In attack, they have players who can make an impact at any time. We have to be prepared for everything. Tottenham also thinks the same about us.
I don't think we are the best team to face. I think it will be a really tough match," - added V. van Dijk.
