„Topsport“ A league interviewed the long-time director of Vilnius „Žalgiris“ club, Vilma Venslovaitienė.

V. Venslovaitienė is the driving force behind the largest football club in Lithuania, Vilnius „Žalgiris“, having become the club's director in 2009.

A graduate of business studies at KTU Kaunas University of Technology, V. Venslovaitienė brought decades of business management and sports experience to the club. This allowed the club to return to its former glory.

In 2014, the director succeeded in restoring the original club name FK „Žalgiris“. For several years after the team's revival in 2009, the club was known by the name VMFD „Žalgiris“.

Under V. Venslovaitienė's leadership, Vilnius „Žalgiris“ became a dominant force in Lithuanian football again, winning a total of 23 trophies since 2010: 7 times the „TOPsport“ A league, 9 times the LFF Cup, and 7 times the LFF Supercup.

One of V. Venslovaitienė's greatest achievements is leading the club to the main stage of the UEFA tournament in 2022 - a milestone that no other Lithuanian club has yet managed to surpass.

„Over 15 years, there have been many unforgettable moments. It has been a long, winding road. The first meeting with the fans, presenting my vision, really stood out to me. It was a huge emotional release, a realization of responsibility in choosing the path. Also, a magical Christmas morning - a meeting with the then-mayor of Vilnius, V. Navickas, when the crucial decision was taken in the life of Vilnius „Žalgiris“ - the city became a shareholder of this club,“ recalled V. Venslovaitienė.

Reflecting on the long journey at Vilnius „Žalgiris“, the director confirmed that the path to the club's success was significantly more challenging than she envisioned. However, she now rejoices in the fact that she managed to overcome countless challenges that brought the club to the pinnacle of Lithuanian football.

V. Venslovaitienė emphasized that in football, the most important factors are the right people around and the results. Everything else matters much less.
