On Saturday (12.04) in the matches of the 14th round of "La Liga," victories were achieved by the favorites "Barcelona" and "Valencia" as well as by "Real Sociedad" trying to climb from the bottom of the tournament table.
The defending champions, the players of "Valencia," in a fierce battle only managed to defeat the last-place team "Albacete" at the very end of the match. In the Albacete match, both teams had opportunities to break through, but only the visitors succeeded: in the 85th minute of the match, Xisco, replacing the injured Vicente on the left side of the attack, managed to score a goal.
A completely different picture was in Barcelona, where the local team "Barcelona" had an easy walk in the match. The leaders of "La Liga" crushed the team "Malaga" from the lower part of the tournament table with a score of 4-0, but the visitors can be partly satisfied with this result, as it could have been even higher: "Barca" demonstrated an impressive and technical game and spent most of the match precisely near the "Malaga" goal. The most productive player in "La Liga," the Cameroonian Samuel Eto'o, justified his name and strengthened his position by scoring two goals in this match.
The attacking leader of "Barca" scored the first goal after a pass from the Portuguese Deco, and the second - at the end of the match, when Andreas Iniesta, replacing the injured Giuly, selflessly passed the ball to a better position near the opponents' goal where Eto'o was busy, leaving him only to send the ball past the goalkeeper.
The second goal of the match was scored by defender Deco, who also contributed to the third goal, which Andres Iniesta scored after confusing the goalkeeper in the penalty area following a pass from Deco.
In the last match of Saturday in San Sebastian, "Real Sociedad" defeated Seville's "Real Betis" by a minimal score. The only goal for the hosts was scored by striker Darko Kovacevic in the 37th minute.
