Robins van Persie announced that he will not extend his contract with the London club, which will expire next summer.
The Dutch national team footballer assured that he met with coach Arsene Wenger and chairman Ivan Gazidis, but they failed to agree on the direction the club should take.
"I thought about it for a long time, but I have decided not to extend the contract," said Van Persie, who has been representing the English team since 2004. "During the meeting, we discussed Arsenal's future strategy and specific actions. The topic of finances was not touched upon, as it has no significance to me.
"Last season was great for me, but the main goal was to win trophies with the team. I have great respect for coach Wenger, the players, and the fans, but it is clear that our visions differ."
It is still unclear whether Van Persie will remain with the team for another year or be sold this summer.
Eight years ago, the former Rotterdam Feyenoord striker, who then cost just 3 million euros, is currently being sought after by Juventus, Manchester City, and other clubs.
