One of the most promising forwards playing in Europe, Bulgarian Valeri Bojinov, has reassured the club's fans and extended his contract with [club name].
According to the new agreement, the eighteen-year-old Bulgarian will remain at the Italian club until 2009. Having already scored eight goals this season, the forward holds the title of the youngest foreigner to play in Serie A. Bojinov earned this title in January 2002, when he made his debut for Lecce at just 15 years old.
Last season, Bojinov played 28 matches for Lecce and also represented Bulgaria in Portugal at the 2004 European Championship, despite never having played for the Bulgarian national team before.
Recently, the London club Chelsea has shown particular interest in this player, while previously Barcelona, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund, and Arsenal also expressed interest.
Bojinov has become the third player from Lecce to renew his contract in the last two days. Before him, Cedric Konan and Christian Ledesma extended their contracts. Lecce, with 17 points from 13 matches, currently holds the eighth position in the Italian championship.
