Yesterday's FIFA Club World Cup victory by Madrid's "Real" will be remembered for a long time in 2017 - it was the best year in the club's history.
It was enough for a single penalty kick by Cristiano Ronaldo, thanks to which "Gremio" was defeated 1-0. In the semi-finals, the Spanish champions defeated "Al Jazira" 2-1.
In the United Arab Emirates, this year's trophy was the fifth for the "Merengues" - they had never reached such a number before.
Zinedine Zidane's pupils also triumphed in "La Liga" championship, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Spanish Super Cup.
Furthermore, "Real" became the first club to successfully defend the Club World Cup - they won the tournament last year as well. In terms of overall victories, the capital's footballers are now equal with the "Barcelona" team, which has three such trophies.
The evening after the victory against "Gremio" was also special for Zidane - he is only the second coach with "Real" to win eight titles. Only Miguel Munoz has achieved better results, winning 14 trophies with the "royal" club.
