Agent of French national team midfielder Patrick Vieira denied rumors that his client intends to negotiate with the Spanish superclub Real Madrid.

It was thought that representatives of both sides were supposed to meet in Madrid yesterday, but the player's agent Steve Kutner denied this and added that if Real Madrid wants to acquire Vieira, they must negotiate with Arsenal in London.

Rumors about this player's move to Real Madrid started after Florentino Perez won the elections for the presidency of the Spanish royal club for the second time in a row. Immediately after the elections, Perez stated in his speech that the main priority of the club was the French national team star.

Kutner told the English newspaper "London Evening Standard": "If Perez says he likes the player, it doesn't mean he will be able to buy him. If Real Madrid wants to attract Vieira, they must negotiate with Arsenal."

It is reported in the Spanish media that Real Madrid star Zinedine Zidane expressed to the club's management that he would really like to play with his fellow countryman Vieira in the club.

Perez himself poured fuel to the fire by stating that "there are no players who are not for sale" and that "the only obstacle is money".

Vieira, who came to Arsenal in 1996 from AC Milan, has already rejected offers from various clubs several times.

Arsenal president Peter Hill-Wood said that they are getting tired of speculations about Vieira, whose contract with the English champions still has three years left.

"Vieira has been linked to Real Madrid so many times that it's getting tiresome," said the Arsenal president. "We really don't want to sell him."
