Before the start of the new season - another shock in the "Villarreal" camp. The "Submarines" officially confirmed that the paths of the club and head coach Marcelino are parting ways.
The 50-year-old strategist worked at "Villarreal" for the past three seasons. His work did not go unnoticed - during this period, "Villarreal" not only managed to return to "La Liga", but also finished in fourth place in the country's championship last season and reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League.
However, just before the start of the season, "Villarreal" unexpectedly announced that Marcelino will no longer be in the coach's seat. So far, the candidate to replace the now former strategist has not been named, but the "Submarines" stated officially that a replacement will be found in the near future.
"Villarreal" faces a serious test on August 17, when they will face "Monaco" in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League group stage playoffs.
