On Saturday, victories were achieved in the 30th round of the Spanish championship ("La Liga") by "Villarreal" and San Sebastian's "Real Sociedad", while defending champion "Valencia" played a draw with "Zaragoza".
An impressive victory was achieved by the players of "Villarreal", who defeated Bilbao "Athletic" 3-1 at home, who have also been playing well this year. Former "AC Milan" player Jose Mari scored two goals for the hosts, while the Uruguayan Diego Forlan, who tops the list of the most effective players in the Spanish championship, added one, so the goal by "Bilbao" striker Santiago Ezquerro did not change anything. In addition, "Villarreal" still has one game left against Pamplona's "Osasuna", which was postponed due to UEFA Cup matches.
At the beginning of the season, "Osasuna", who intended to get into the playoffs, continue to play with fate - this time they lost 2-0 to San Sebastian's "Real Sociedad" and thus gave hope to the teams in the lower part of the league table to fight for the right to remain in the top league.
Fierce matches took place in Zaragoza, where "Valencia" managed to come back after missing two goals and secured a draw at the end of the match. At the end of the first half, after David Miranda's goal, "Zaragoza" took the lead, while at the beginning of the second half, a shot by Savio deflected off "Valencia" defender David Albelda into the goal.
In the last ten minutes of the match, "Valencia" pressed their opponents and were able to score goals through the Italian Bernardo Corradi and defender Marco Caneira from Portugal, who later had to leave the field due to a second yellow card. In this match, the injured defender Vicente and defender Curro Torreas did not play, while defender Ruben Baraja will not appear on the field for at least a couple of weeks.
