"Villarreal" secured fourth place, without G. Arlauskis, "Espanyol" beat "Sevilla" (VIDEO)

On Sunday, four more matches of the 36th round were played in the Spanish "Primera" division.

The first match took place in the modern "San Mames" stadium, where Bilbao "Athletic" met Vigo "Celta". Ernesto Valverde's team managed to secure a victory after a tough battle with a score of 2-1 in front of their own fans.

In the 13th minute, the visitors took the lead with one goal, but by the 38th minute the score became equal after Artizo Aduriz's penalty from the 11-yard line. Furthermore, in the 40th minute Gabriel Cabral was sent off the field and "Celta" had to play with ten men. In the middle of the second half, Raul Garcia scored the winning goal for the hosts.

"Athletic" climbed to fifth place after the victory, pushing "Celta" down to sixth place.

Following an important victory after a defeat in the previous round, Barcelona's "Espanyol" celebrated. Giedrius Arlauskis, after conceding four goals against "Las Palmas," was back on the bench, but this time the Catalans managed to not concede a goal and beat the Europa League champions, "Sevilla," by a minimal margin. The winning goal for "Espanyol" was scored by forward Felipe Caicedo.

In other matches, a crucial victory in the battle for survival was secured by Madrid's "Getafe". Goals from Pedro Leon and Carlos Vigaray brought the capital team a 0-2 victory against La Coruna's "Deportivo".

In the last match of the night, Valencia and Villarreal players clashed. Goals from Samuel and Adriano led to a 0-2 victory for the "Yellow Submarines".

After the victory, "Villarreal" secured a place in the top four. This means that the current Europa League semi-finalists will have the opportunity to test their strength in the UEFA Champions League tournament next season. According to points, Bilbao "Athletic" theoretically still have a chance to overtake "Villarreal", but due to a better head-to-head record in matches, the latter would still remain in the fourth position.
