Villas Boas: it's important not why Lampard doesn't play, but the team's goals. © EuroFootball.com

London coach Andre Villas Boas is not inclined to talk about why Frank Lampard lost his place in the starting lineup.

One of the team's leaders started the last three out of four matches on the bench.

"Frank has nothing more to prove in the world of football," said Villas Boas. "He will continue to successfully represent this club for many years."

"I don't like questions like, 'What happened to this player?' How will he adapt to the new situation?" We see collective tasks that we have to implement, and nothing more."

And he added: "I just do my job, and the biggest challenge is to maintain the motivation of all the players. Everyone wants to play, so there is competition. There is no mystique, it's just everyday life."

On Wednesday, "Chelsea" will play an away Champions League match against "Valencia."
