Last season, the club that finished in seventh place in the A League continues to prepare for the upcoming season. Brazilians Everton and Adilson, who started training a week ago after the holidays, have already joined the team, as well as Evgenijus Morozas, who has returned to training after recovering from a serious injury.
According to the club's website, Brazilians Rodnei, Rinaldo, Paulinho, and Muller, who played in the last season, have not yet returned to the team. As we already reported, the team will no longer have defender Mindaugas Panka, who has moved to Vilnius "Vėtra". The team also will not see the return of former Lithuanian national team defender Tomas Razanauskas, as well as Brazilians Prado and Gleyton, who did not meet expectations. The club's website also states that both Polish goalkeeper Maciej Kijewski and defender Adrian Mrowiec could leave the team.
After the end of his loan contract, Georgian player Akaki Khubutia returned to "Kaunas".
"Vilnius" is currently hosting four Brazilian legionnaires. When asked about their progress, the team's head coach Ivan Švabovičius replied: "They are slowly adapting. Like our players, they have just had their holidays - in Brazil, the season starts in March. Besides, they have not played on artificial turf before. So far, it's just the beginning - we have done tests and their results are pleasing us."
"When we play a few friendly matches, then we will see what they can do and what they are worth. Right now they are working hard and leaving a good impression," added the coach.
The coach confirmed that one of the leaders of the youth national team, Vytautas Lukša, who is currently recovering from an injury, cannot train at full capacity.
The first competitive match is scheduled for January 20, and one week later "Vilnius" will test its strength against Alytus "Alytis", which plays in the LFF I League.
