Vilnius' Žalgiris lost to FA Šiauliai club

The second away match of the season for "Žalgiris" ended in their first defeat of the season - they lost to the "Šiauliai" team on the road.

In the first half, the Šiauliai players converted a penalty, and in the second half, the Žalgiris players failed to take advantage of their opportunities, and the opponents scored during a quick counterattack.

Following the previous match, there was one change in the starting lineup - G. Jarusevičius played from the start, as G. Matulevičius could not help the team due to injury.

The match started unsuccessfully. In the 13th minute, J. Kendyš stopped the ball in the penalty area, and it hit his hand, resulting in a penalty being awarded. It was accurately converted by the home player Benny.

In the first half, the Šiauliai team counterattacked quite sharply, while the Žalgiris players struggled to create positional attacks.

The best opportunity came in the 38th minute after a pass from G. Jarusevičius to M. Burba, but his shot was inaccurate.

At the beginning of the second half, shots in the penalty area by O. Verbickas and K. Hadji were unsuccessful.

In the 56th minute, after a shot by G. Jarusevičius, the ball rebounded to N. Mihajlović, but he failed to score from close range.

In the 66th minute, N. Mihajlović's shot from close range was saved by the goalkeeper, and in the 69th minute, after a shot by B. Tavares, the ball flew past the goal.

In the 72nd minute, the referee noted a foul by K. Bička against an opponent and awarded another penalty. M. Džokić’s shot was saved by A. Tordai, who also blocked the follow-up shot.

In the 76th minute, after a pass from deep in the field, G. Micevičius broke away down the flank and, finding himself one-on-one, scored the second goal.

In the 81st minute, N. Mihajlović's shot hit the crossbar.
