The first clash between the leaders of the previous season's championship ended in a dramatic victory - in Panevezys, "Žalgiris" defeated the defending champions with a score of 2:1.

At the beginning of the second half, the hosts took the lead after E. Veliulis converted a penalty, and in the middle of the half, N. Petkovičius equalized with a header. At the end of the match, J. Larsson scored the winning goal.

There was one change in the starting lineup of "Žalgiris" - L. Antalis played instead of N. Petkovičius from the beginning. B. Traore could not help the team due to injury.
