Vilnius' Žalgiris surpasses Šiauliai club as guests

"TOPsport A lyga" 15th round ended in the Sun City. There, Vilnius' "Žalgiris" eliminated the goal deficit and beat FA "Šiauliai" 2:1 (1:1).

The first to attack aggressively was Davis Ikauniekas, whose shot was caught by Arpadas Tordai. In the 17th minute, the goalkeeper deflected D. Ikauniekas' pass, but Rolandas Baravykas in the penalty area took advantage of his chance.

The performance of the Latvian legionnaire ended in the first half - he was substituted due to injury. However, after a two-month break, Martynas Dapkus returned to the lineup.

Just before the break, Liviu Antalis sent the ball into the crossbar, Joris Moutachy's attempt was blocked by Lukas Paukštė, and in the fifth minute of added time, Joel Bopesu's shot touched Nauris Petkevičius and ended up in the net.

In the second half, "Žalgiris" played much more aggressively. L. Paukštė saved the team from dangerous attempts by L. Antalis, Paulius Golubickas, and Romualdas Jansonas. To make matters worse, the latter hit the crossbar.

Finally, the visitors proved their advantage in the 87th minute. Sigitas Olberkis played with his hand in the penalty area, so Joel Bopesu scored another goal this year. The Šiauliai team played actively for the remainder of the time but did not create any threatening moments.

After the 15th round, the Žalgiris leads with 34 points, while the representatives of the Sun City have 17 points and are in seventh place.
