Edinburgh club's main shareholder Vladimir Romanov admitted that one of the candidates for the position of head coach could be Valdas Ivanauskas, who recently resigned from the position of coach at "Kaunas".
On Monday, the Scottish capital's club parted ways with coach John Robertson by mutual agreement, and his assistant Donald Park temporarily declined to take up the position, so while "Hearts" search for a new coach, the team will be led by team captain Steven Pressley and assistant coach John McGlynn.
"At the moment, I have no candidates in mind for this job. We know what qualities we need. Ivanauskas is a highly respected coach and could be one of the options," said Romanovas to the newspaper "Daily Express". "I can only say that the new coach must be experienced and well-known, and should help "Hearts" reach the top in Scotland."
As is known, V. Romanovas is also the owner of the Lithuanian champions club FBK "Kaunas", and this team was coached for some time by recently resigned V. Ivanauskas. Rumors about his candidacy arose in the Scottish press after the coach attended the Edinburgh derby.
However, both "Hearts" and Ivanauskas himself denied these speculations at the time, stating that he was only observing the game of three Lithuanians still belonging to "Kaunas": D. Česnauskis, S. Mikoliūnas, and M. Kižys. Moreover, two of the three players also represent the national team, where Ivanauskas works as assistant coach to senior coach A. Liubinskas.
