Brazilian national team forward Robinho definitely won't go straight into the main lineup after decisively joining the Royal club at the end of next week, says Madrid team coach, Brazilian Vanderlei Luxemburgo.
The 21-year-old Brazilian should arrive in Madrid on Thursday and officially be presented as the new member of Real. The Royal Madrid club agreed to pay $30 million for this Brazilian talent after long negotiations.
"Robinho will have to fight for his place in the starting lineup, just like Baptista (another new Real player),” Luxemburgo told the Spanish sports newspaper "Marca" on Saturday. "Julio (Baptista) will most likely play in the starting lineup because he participated in the entire preseason preparation, and Robinho will arrive later, so Baptista will have a better position."
"There is a lot of competition with us for a place in the starting lineup, and Robinho won't go straight to the starting lineup on August 25," said the Brazilian. "He will have to do it step by step. He will need to first adapt to our philosophy and style of play."
Robinho will likely compete for a place in the starting lineup at Real with Brazilians J.Baptista and Ronaldo, club captain Raul, and Michael Owen, if he doesn't leave for another club before the start of the season.
Real starts the new Spanish season on August 28 with a match against the league newcomer "Cadiz."
