Russian President Vladimir Putin promises free transportation between cities and within cities for all football fans watching the 2018 World Cup matches in this country. This information is provided by the Russian news agency TASS.
The Russian leader reminded his officials that the opportunity to travel to the matches for free is one of the 11 points that this country, who won the right to host the World Cup, has committed to implement. The other 10 points are not disclosed.
"The practical implementation of this requirement will force us to change not only the legal framework, but also all possible logistics. We will have to reform customs, border, and tax areas so that all fans who arrive in Russia can easily travel for free from city to city," explained V. Putin at a meeting of the 2018 World Cup organizing committee.
According to him, the country must inherit all the best experience gained from organizing the 2013 Universiade in Kazan and the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Russian President gave a task to establish a new online portal through which all issues related to the championships would be resolved - tickets, visas, transportation, and monitoring the movement of all fans.
Such an online portal was created during the Sochi Olympics - only after registering in it and checking with special law enforcement structures, fans could get the right to buy a ticket to the matches. However, before buying a ticket, they had to obtain an accreditation for the games with a personal code, which police officers could check at any time when entering the arenas.
The 2018 World Cup in Russia is planned to take place from June 8th to July 8th.
The matches will be held in 11 Russian cities and 12 stadiums. Some matches will also take place near Lithuania - in Kaliningrad.
