„Manchester United“ forward Wayne Rooney praises former team strategist Sir Alex Ferguson, calling him the best coach there has ever been.
The 28-year-old Englishman arrived at „Old Trafford“ in 2004, when Ferguson purchased him from Liverpool's „Everton“ for 32 million euros.
Despite some past disagreements, Rooney admitted that the Scot, who led the team to 13 „Premier“ league titles, 5 FA Cups, and twice won the UEFA Champions League, inspired an entire generation of players at the club.
„I arrived at the team as a young boy. There were a few other young players. He brought us all together and made us champions of the world clubs,“ Rooney said in an interview with MUTV celebrating his decade at the club.
„I am very grateful for everything he did. It was wonderful.“
„Sir Alex is the best coach who has trained this team, and the fact that he discovered my talent and wanted to see me among his pupils - a huge honor.“
„He took me to Old Trafford, we were alone in the car. I remember how nervous I was, but he was excellent and made me feel comfortable.“
Roooney, now the captain of the „Red Devils,“ also expressed gratitude that Ferguson invited Dutch tactical master Louis van Gaal to the club and said he hopes to participate in the same interview in five years.
