W. Rooney: "I swapped goals for medals"

England national team forward Wayne Rooney admitted that he is honored to share the title of all-time leading national team scorer with Bobby Charlton, but he assured that his priority is to win with the team.

Manchester United captain scored his 49th goal for England in tonight's match against San Marino from the penalty spot and equaled Bobby Charlton's record that stood for many years.

"To equal Sir Bobby's record is a huge honor. My goal is to continue traveling with the team, help them secure a victory on Tuesday, and eventually break the record and become the most prolific scorer," - W. Rooney told "ITV Sport" after the match.

"He (Charlton) has supported me since I was 18 - after the matches he is always in the dressing room. He talks to all the players, especially to me, shares advice, and tries to help me. If someone will be happy that I break the record, it will be him."

"We play to win as a team. I would exchange my goals for medals."
