English football legend Wayne Rooney will greet the New Year as an unemployed man.

It has been officially announced that the Championship team Plymouth Argyle has terminated the contract with the 39-year-old specialist "by mutual agreement".

The team led by the former Manchester United forward has not been able to win a match since November and has recently fallen to the bottom of the league standings.
