W. Rooney surprised by T. Tuchel's appointment as England national team coach

The Football Association (FA) of England finally presented the new head coach of the national team this week.

The new coach is German Thomas Tuchel, who will replace interim coach Lee Carsley.

The decision to hire a foreign coach did not impress longtime national team player Wayne Rooney.

"I am surprised. Tuchel is a very good coach, but I was surprised that the FA of England chose him. Nevertheless, I wish him the best of luck."

"Over the past 10-15 years, the FA has created a system that has allowed new English coaches to emerge. It is very strange that one of them has not become the national team coach now."

"Still, it is their decision, and I hope it turns out well,” said W. Rooney.
