Suspected that last Saturday at the Manchester restaurant "Panacea" an incident occurred in which Wayne Rooney allegedly hit defender Michael Gray in the face.

The footballer was sitting in the restaurant with his fiancée Coleen McLoughlin and a few friends when M. Gray approached them and said a few insulting remarks. Allegedly, W. Rooney hit the "Blackburn" defender and gave him a black eye.

According to a representative of "Man Utd": "Wayne and Coleen were enjoying lunch with three other couples when Michael approached their table uninvited. He made some insulting remarks about Coleen and Wayne's other friends. Wayne asked Michael to leave several times."

"It was a brief incident and as Wayne says - he doesn't feel any animosity towards Michael," he added.

As the player is currently suspended from the club for a while and is preparing to return to international competitions, "Man Utd" club is once again disappointed by the conflicting reports in the press.

Manchester police say they were not informed about the incident.

W. Rooney was supposed to miss the matches of the English national team against Andorra and Macedonia, as in early July FIFA punished him with a two-match suspension for an incident in the World Cup knockout match against the Portuguese national team. Back then, the 20-year-old striker stepped on his opponent Ricardo Carvalho.
