W. Rooney - the best English football player of 2015

„Manchester United“ striker Wayne Rooney was named the best player of the English national team in 2015 after his historic year in the national team.

Both „Man Utd“ and England's team captain scored five goals in eight matches within the „Three Lions“ ranks, surpassing Sir Bobby Charlton's record and becoming the all-time top scorer for England.

The 30-year-old striker collected 37% of the votes and outperformed players such as Joe Hart, Gary Cahill, Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane. W. Rooney won this award for the second time in a row and it was his fourth such prize throughout his career.

W. Rooney's team mate Jesse Lingard was nominated in the category of the best English footballer under 21 years old, but lost to „Stoke City“ goalkeeper Jack Butland.
