W. Rooney was not happy with the English victory: we played poorly (VIDEO)

In a friendly match, the England national team achieved a victory, but gave little joy to the fans.

Over 40,000 fans watched at Wembley Stadium as their supported team defeated Norway 1-0, with the only goal scored by the new team captain Wayne Rooney from the penalty spot in the 68th minute.

"I think I could have done better, as well as the whole team. We played our first match after the World Cup in Brazil and it's good that we won because the European Championship qualifiers start on Monday," said W. Rooney.

"In the first part of the game we looked good enough, but the Norwegians pushed back and created a few chances. Meanwhile, we started the second half poorly and disappointingly. In the end, we achieved victory. Of course, there are quite a few young players in the team and they are still learning," said the forward.

England will start the European Championship qualifying tournament with an away match against the Scots.

In the match against Norway, W. Rooney and J. Milner made "impressive" passes.
