"Manchester United" strategist Louis van Gaal has confirmed that team captain Wayne Rooney will be ready to take to the field in this weekend's match against "Southampton".
Earlier this month, the 29-year-old forward became the all-time leading goal scorer for the England national team, but returned to Manchester after the international break with a minor ankle injury, causing him to miss two matches.
However, van Gaal has now revealed that the captain is fit and also added that defender Phil Jones has recovered.
"Shaw's injury is a big loss, but Rooney is ready to play against "Southampton" and Jones also trained with the team," said the "Red Devils" coach.
"Rooney's injury was minor, but we didn't want to take any risks. He has recovered from it, so I think he will be able to step onto the field from the first minute."
