Yesterday, dramatic match took place in Group C, where the Argentina national team beat Poland 2-0.
At the end of the first half, there was a quite controversial episode. A penalty kick was awarded to Poland after Wojciech Szczesny played not the ball, but instead hit Lionel Messi in the face.
However, the ball was already out of play, so the Poles were convinced that such a penalty kick would not be awarded.
After the match, W. Szczesny revealed that at the time when VAR review was taking place, he bet €100 with Messi that a penalty kick would not be awarded.
"Before the decision, I bet 100 euros with Messi that the penalty kick would not be awarded. I lost the bet. I don't know if it is allowed to do this, I will probably be suspended," Juventus goalkeeper recounted the situation.
Asked if he will pay Messi the 100 euros, W. Szczesny replied: "I will not pay him the 100 euros. I think he has enough money."
Yesterday, the 32-year-old goalkeeper was one of the heroes of the Polish national team, who led the team to the World Cup knockout stage after a 36-year break.
