In a deep pit of play, Vagner, a guard of the Viga team, avoided jail time. The player was sentenced to seven months probation and also has to pay a fine of 3,470 euros (almost 12,000 litas) for resisting arrest and disturbing public order.

The 31-year-old Brazilian got into a conflict in October 2001 at the entrance of a stadium where a match between the teams "Celta" and "Valencia" was taking place. The player, who was not registered for the match, was stopped by two police officers as he was talking on his mobile phone. After heated discussions, the men got into a fight because Vagner was trying to force his way into the stadium.

One officer, injured in the incident, was unable to work for 46 days due to the injuries, but Vagner managed to avoid a more serious punishment.
