Wasting opportunities, R. Lukaku writes himself into history of European Championship

Romelu Lukaku had one of the most unsuccessful games of his career at the start of the European Championship.

During the loss to Slovakia, R. Lukaku missed several clear-cut chances. Furthermore, two of his goals were disallowed after VAR review.

Having two goals disallowed after VAR review is a new European Championship record for a single player.

Belgium ultimately failed to score and lost 0-1 to Slovakia. This was the biggest shock in the history of the European Championship in terms of the difference in the teams' FIFA rankings.
