"Werder" acquired striker Hugo Almeida from Bremen.
On his 23rd birthday this Wednesday, the football player was loaned to the German team until the end of this season and earned a long-term contract with successful performance.
"We will take advantage of the opportunity to buy out the contract," said Werder's sports director Klaus Allofs. "H. Almeida has improved significantly this year, is fast, strong in duels in the 'second tier', has a powerful shot and has great potential."
In the 2006-2007 Bundesliga season, H. Almeida scored 5 goals in 28 matches, most of which he started on the bench. Four times the Portuguese striker managed to score in the UEFA Cup matches, where Werder reached the semifinals.
According to unofficial data, the striker cost the Germans about 3.5 million euros."
