On Sunday, two matches of the German Bundesliga Championship's 32nd round were played. Leverkusen's "Bayer" club suffered their second consecutive defeat to Bielefeld's "Arminia" team, while Bremen's "Werder" crushed Berlin's "Hertha" on the road and still hold hope of winning the title.
In the German capital, Berlin, "Hertha" hosted Bremen's "Werder" at home. The first goal was scored after 20 minutes, a long-distance shot by forward Markus Rosenberg, acquired from Ajax. After just over 30 minutes of play, "Hertha" was left with ten men on the field when Josip Šimunič was sent off for a rough challenge on Christian Schulz.
In the second half, just five minutes in, "Werder" doubled their lead with another goal from Markus Rosenberg. Brazilian Diego added another goal after Miroslav Klose's pass. However, a minute later, Gilberto managed to score one goal back for "Hertha."
But Sunday evening belonged to the young M. Rosenberg. With 8 minutes left to play, he scored his first hat-trick for Bremen and helped secure a crucial victory. After this win, "Werder" still has a chance to win the Bundesliga title, while "Hertha's" chances of qualifying for the UEFA Cup became more complicated.
In other matches on the same day, Leverkusen's "Bayer" faced Bielefeld's "Arminia." The visitors took the lead first when, in the 19th minute, the hosts' goalkeeper Marko Babić lost the ball, and Artur Wichniarek scored without stopping the ball after a Roberto Tesche pass. However, in the 30th minute, Sergej Barbarez managed to equalize by scoring his seventh goal of the championship.
The winner was determined in the 83rd minute. The visitors' forward Jonas Kamper directed the ball with a fantastic long-range shot that hit the post before entering the goal. After this victory, "Arminia" climbed to 13th place, while "Bayer" suffered a setback but maintained their 6th position.
