The leader of the German "Bundesliga" championship, Bremen club, has acquired the young forward Markus Rosenberg from multiple-time Dutch champions Amsterdam team. It is believed that the transfer fee amounts to 4.5 million euros.

Ajax club confirmed that both parties have reached an agreement regarding the transfer of the 24-year-old Swedish national team forward, and he should soon be officially presented in the German team.

This season, the Swede has already represented the Amsterdam club in the UEFA Cup matches, so he will not be able to help "Werder" in the upcoming round of 16 match against his former team next month.

The forward, who moved from "Malmo" to "Ajax" for a fee of 5.3 million euros in the summer of 2005, scored 12 goals in 40 Dutch league matches.

M. Rosenberg has signed a four-year contract with the Bremen team and has committed to staying with "Werder" until 2011. The leaders of the German championship did not hide their satisfaction that the team's ranks have been supplemented by a promising forward.

"Markus Rosenberg is a very fast player who can control the ball well with both feet and is very strong in the 'second level'," said Klaus Allofs, the sports director of the "Werder" team - "these abilities will help our game develop even further. He was not a key player in the Ajax team, but we are confident in his abilities."

Meanwhile, another "Werder" Croatian national team forward Ivan Klasnic, who has been out of the team for about eight weeks, underwent a kidney transplant operation on Thursday and is feeling well.
