Bremen's leaders have significantly opened their wallets and offered the team's star Miroslav Klose a new highly profitable contract.
The current contract of the German national team striker is valid until 2008, but M. Klose himself has repeatedly expressed his desire to try his luck abroad next season. However, "Werder" desperately does not want to lose their leader and is offering him to tie his future to the club for another three and a half years.
If the German agrees, his salary will increase from 2.8 to 4.2 million euros per year.
The contract should also include the possibility for M. Klose to leave if he receives an attractive offer from another club, but in that case "Werder" would also receive a substantial compensation.
"I am firmly convinced that Miroslav will stay in Bremen," said one of the Bundesliga leaders, sports director Klaus Allofs.
The striker, who has already scored 11 goals in the national championship this season, recently rejected the possibility of moving to Munich's "Bayern", stating that he will choose between two options - staying where he is or moving abroad.
